The One With The "Jennifer's Body" Trailer

C/O: TheJennifersBody

So from what I can tell, this a slasher flick. But for some reason I can't spot the slasher. I see Megan Fox and some other actors... but what are they all afraid of? I mean, Megan Fox seems to be handling the crisis well. I don't know what to make of it. I can't wait to see more of Jennifer's Body...

The One With Some Marvel Trailers

Coming out of San Diego Comic Con, Marvel has revealed a bunch of trailers for various properties for their animated market.

For you Hulk fans out there, they've got Planet Hulk
C/O: IronPatriot2

I can take it or leave it. I saw Gladiator already a bunch of times.

Looks like Marvel has also recruited the anime studio Madhouse(see Ninja Scroll, Street Fighter V) to do a couple of features for them.

This Ironman teaser is INVINCIBLE

I'm really liking the quality of the animation with this one. On the other hand...

What the fuck is happening here...

I think they've justified this take by employing Frank Miller's arc with Wolverine in Japan. I am not pleased...

The One About MvC2

Yes the arcade and Dreamcast(RIP) classic, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is back on XBL and soon to be on PSN. I Had the original and played the hell out of that game. You had to, in order to unlock all of the playable characters. Luckily, that's no longer the case. Thank you Capcom, that was really annoying the first time around.

Here's some footage of MvC2 at EVO 2k7 with probably one of the most exciting comebacks recorded, by none other than Justin Wong.

C/O: GAwes

I'd have to say, it's clear that Justin's Cyclops is probably one of the best in the world. I've got to get practicing...

The One With The Ryu Combo Vid From EVO

This video by Maj was featured at EVO 2K9.

The video can be downloaded here.

Featuring my favorite Street Fighter character ever, I'm already predisposed to loving this video, but I gotta say there are some pretty amazing combos demonstrated here. Plus, the transitions from scene to scene are clever. I give it 5 stars...

The One With The 2009 EVO SFIV Champion

After watching a full weekend of live streaming EVO footage this weekend, viewing dozens of intense Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and Street Fighter IV matches, I can say that it was well worth the effort, because I've seen some amazing matches by the best competitors in the world. And the Main Event, the Street Fighter IV Championship Finals were AMAZING. The true 1st SFIV world champion is Daigo Umehara. That's right, "The Beast" prevailed as the winner but not after a long fought, and nail-biting finals, where Daigo faced the USA favorite repping the NYC, Justin Wong, a man who had already earned a SFIII title earlier that morning and fought a hard battle to earn runner-up in the Marvel vs Capcom 2 championship.

The two competitors faced in three different sets in the double elimination tournament. Both began in the winners bracket and actually matched up during the 1st round (best of 3 matches, best of 3 rounds), where Justin, who had seemed to favor Rufus in competition since the game came out, made a strategic decision to change gears and chose Abel instead. Justin showed some fancy work with Abel, countering a fireball with and ultra in one of the rounds, but was ultimately beaten by the patient and focused Daigo and his near flawless execution with Ryu.

Daigo would go on to sweep the rest of the winners bracket. Justin, now in the losers bracket, had shown great concentration by having to defeat three Akuma players to sweep the bracket and earn another chance at Daigo and the SFIV title.

Because Daigo had beaten Justin previously, Justin would have to beat Daigo in two sets (now a best of 5 matches, best of 3 rounds for the championship set). Justin started after Daigo with Abel once again, but after a firm trouncing, searched deep inside to decide on Balrog a.k.a. in international competition "Boxer". Justin, with the home crowd behind him edges out Daigo in this 2nd set, after going the full 5 matches, and the spectators in the crowd GO NUTS! The level of play was top notch, and it was clear Justin had surprised Daigo with his strategy. But the celebration was brief as the two players had to continue on to the 3rd set immediately. No break.

Let me tell you this set also went the distance. Both players kept with the same characters the entire set and the back and forth between these them was fierce. The chess match was on and the tension was thick. The crowd's excitement ebbed and flowed as the rounds progressed. Daigo took first match, then Justin would take the next two, and then Daigo nabbed his second match. These guys took it down to the wire, but I gotta say, something about Daigo's play had changed since the beginning of the set. I'd describe it as like a man possessed. That final round of the third match cemented that Daigo had finally adapted to Justin's game.

That said though, a wonderful effort by both competitors. Justin played an incredible game. And Daigo is my hero...

The One With The Cool SFIV Shirt

Found this shirt design on one of the more cooler sites I visit out on the interwebs, Kineda. Due to their love of the best damn fighting game series ever, they've created their own set of SFIV themed shirts.

I'm fond of this one myself for both it's style and factual proclamation.

Additional designs and ordering info can be found here.

Remember that SI model, Bar Refaeli? Yeah, she's got video where she's naked. How awesome is that?

Is she selling something? Is this just an artistic video? I dunno, but I'm definitely glad it's out there...

The One About Toprocking

So I've been on kind of a dance kick and I've been looking up dance styles, that maybe, possibly, I could give a shot at learning. I've always really liked the b-boy style, but found the floor work daunting. Then I realized there's a whole upright/vertical component, that is cool, in and of itself called toprocking. Check this dude out...

C/O: bboybyu

...uh right, maybe after a couple years I'll be any good. Maybe I could, but I know I'd need some kind of instruction...

THANKS bboybyu! I'm gonna spread the word about your dancing skills...

The One With Dudes Getting Choked Out

Gina Carano and Christina Santos are due meet in the cage on August 15th in San Jose, CA. And both have recently been recorded demonstrating their submission abilities.

This one is kinda shocking...

This one comes off a bit less violent...

Either way, it's obvious that both these ladies have got some submission skills. Maybe I'm being a little sadistic, but I'm kinda hoping for a KO to end this fight myself...

Bayformers Transforms

After walking out of the first transformers "live action" effort from Michael Bay I was a mix of emotions. 8 Parts hate and 2 parts entertained. The two parts were the giant robots and Megan Fox. This time around I decided to walk into the theater expecting to be even more underwhelmed. Which is probably why I had such an awesome time at the movies. Instead of being presented with a repeat of too many human characters dwarfing the character development of the transformers themselves, I was given a wild action picture with tons of robots with actual personality. Granted the humor in the film ranges from toilet to completely unnecessary (Devastator's having testacles or Sam's mother getting high on "brownies") and once again we have leaps in illogic that only Michael Bay's ineptitude can produce. (A no longer employed government agent of sector 7, somehow having the power to order a naval vessel to attack the decepticons). But where he fails in real "human" interaction, he more than compensates in the true heroes of this epic, "The Transformers." The interaction between the metallic aliens was fun to see. From the brilliantly raw action sequence wherein a certain Prime rips a decepticons face apart, to the hate/hate dynamic between Megatron and Starscream. Starscream, who's voice is finally given a schrillness missing in the first film. They have more personality, more screen time, and a smidgen more depth. All that and Megan Fox running around seemingly in an eternal thin gloss of sweat ensures a great time at the theater.

All in all, I recommend this film wholeheartedly. The running time is 2 hours and 30 minutes, but it's hard to notice with such a breakneck pace blazing before your eyes. The sound and visual effects are inkeeping with a huge summer blockbuster. By that I mean, "exceptional!" And yes, that includes "Linkin Park's" New divide tearing into the end credits. I can't wait to see it on the IMAX. "AUTOBOTS, ROLL OUT!"
